Former President, John Dramani Mahama, has denied reports suggesting he has picked Zanetor Rawlings to be his running mate in the 2020 elections when he is elected flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
An earlier publication claimed the NDC flagbearer hopeful had settled on the Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle who is also the daughter of the founder of the party, former President Jerry John Rawlings to be the vice-presidential candidate of the NDC.
Dispelling the report in a communique, former President Mahama, said the publications are mere speculations as he has not settled on any party member as a running mate.
The statement signed by Mahama’s Spokesperson, James Agyenim Boateng, further described the publication as false, urging the public to disregard it.
“Former President John Dramani Mahama has become aware of speculations about his choice of running mate for the 2020 presidential elections. We wish to state that the reports are false,” the statement discloses.
“Mr. Mahama is presently focused on both his NDC flag bearer campaign and his official duties. Therefore, Ghanaians should disregard all such conjectures,” the statement adds.
