Parliament has approved the nomination of Dr. Edward Omane Boamah as Minister-Designate for Defence, following a debate and adoption of the Appointments Committee’s ninth report.
Although the committee unanimously recommended his approval, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin raised concerns about the Clerk’s handling of the report, accusing her of omitting key submissions.
Speaker Alban Bagbin condemned the attack, urging Afenyo-Markin to use proper channels for his concerns.
This approval comes on the heels of Wednesday’s confirmation of Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah as Minister-designate for Lands and Natural Resources, along with three regional ministers-designate: Tia Ibrahim (North East Region), Dr. Frank Amoakohene (Ashanti Region), and Akamugri Atanga Donatus (Upper East Region).
The newly approved ministers-designate are expected to assume their respective roles, driving development initiatives and implementing government policies in their regions.
