Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA), Prof. Ransford Gyampo has disagreed with the perception that he has no experience to occupy his new role and will most likely not excel.
The Political Science Lecturer who has been an academic for close to 20 years explained that the University education and its training has been designed to enable professionals adjust to whatever life challenge they may face.
Prof. Gyampo noted that as a lecturer who has taught for many years and even trained persons who have held similar state positions, he’s confident that he will excel in his new role.
He referenced instances where some appointees who had zero experience in the sectors, they were appointed to but performed exceedingly great when they took office.
“I think given what I have done in my life, my experience, those people who are heading so many positions, those people that have been appointed, some of them don’t even have work experience but they have excelled.
“It means we thought them well to be able to be adjustable in a new situation and so if I’ve thought them for twenty years and they’ve excelled, you think when I go there, I doubt.
“I will be able to do it,” he told Kemini Amanor on TV3’s Hot Issues on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
Prof. Gyampo acknowledged President Mahama’s trust and confidence reposed in him to be able to deliver on his new mandate and show his competence.
“The president, I’m sure assessed me for a long time and if he thinks that I will be able to do it, I think I will humbly agree with his judgement about me,” he added.
