The Acting Managing Director of Precious Minerals Marketing Company, Sammy Gyamfi, has reaffirmed President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment not to impose “draconian” taxes on Ghanaians.
Speaking ahead of the 2025 budget presentation by Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson, Mr. Gyamfi described the upcoming budget as a “budget of hope,” aimed at alleviating hardships rather than creating new burdens.
He assured Ghanaians that the 2025 budget would focus on job creation for all citizens, regardless of political affiliation, and demonstrate the NDC government’s dedication to resetting the country’s economy.
His remarks come ahead of the much-anticipated budget presentation on Tuesday, March 11, where stakeholders expect the NDC administration to fulfill its promise of scrapping taxes such as the betting tax, E-Levy, and COVID-19 levy.
“…I can tell you that this budget will not introduce any draconian taxes like they did when they were in government. This budget is a budget of hope. It is a budget that will ease hardships and not impose hardship on them.
“It is a budget that will be creating jobs, not collapsing them like they did. We do not have to speculate at all,” he stated.
