The National Service Authority (NSA) has announced on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, that all National Service Personnel (NSP) across the country will undergo up to two months of basic military training starting August 3, 2025.
The announcement was made following a meeting between the NSA and the Military High Command. According to the NSA, the training forms part of the National Service Emergency Response Readiness Programme (NSERRP), aimed at instilling discipline, patriotism, and physical fitness in the nation’s youth.
Director-General of the NSA, Mr. Felix Gyamfi, described the initiative as a crucial step toward youth reorientation and national development.
“The introduction of this military training is a step in the right direction and must be embraced by all and sundry as one of the indicators for resetting the country, particularly the youth,” he stated.
Brigadier General Amoah-Boakye, representing the Military High Command at the meeting, assured the NSA of the military’s preparedness to deliver the necessary training when the programme officially begins.
The NSERRP aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision for the nation’s youth, as outlined in his maiden State of the Nation Address on February 27, 2025.
The programme is expected to complement the year-long mandatory national service, further enhancing the skills and character of Ghana’s youth.
