
A significant cybersecurity breach has compromised the data of approximately 5,700 customers of MTN Ghana, one of the country’s leading mobile network operators.
The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations has launched a thorough investigation into the incident, working closely with relevant authorities.
“The Ministry is working to establish if there are any breaches on the part of the Mobile Network Operator,” the Ministry stated in a statement issued on April 29, 2025.
Authorities emphasize that customer privacy remains a top priority, and affected individuals will be contacted in accordance with Ghana’s Data Protection Laws.
The Ministry has urged the public to remain calm as efforts are underway to resolve the issue, assuring citizens that updates will be provided as new information emerges.
