A High Court in Accra has ordered the remand of Kwabena Adu-Boahen, former head of the National Signals Bureau, into the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Organisation (EOCO) for seven days.
The court’s decision, made on Friday, May 2, 2025, follows an application by the Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, who alleged that Adu-Boahen had attempted to interfere with a key prosecution witness in an ongoing stealing case.
After hearing arguments from both the prosecution and defence, the presiding judge deferred the ruling to review intelligence evidence in-camera.
The judge later ordered Adu-Boahen’s remand, citing the need to balance the accused’s freedom with the state’s preparation of witness statements. The court has adjourned the case to Friday, May 9, 2025, for further proceedings.
Meanwhile, the court granted bail to Adu-Boahen’s wife, Angela Adjei-Boateng, and Mildred Donkor, a former bank relations officer for the couple. The two co-accused were allowed to go free after meeting the bail conditions.
The Attorney General revealed that separate investigations involving Adu-Boahen are underway at Ghana Water Limited, potentially paving the way for additional charges.
The state will continue to prepare its case against Adu-Boahen and his co-accused during the remand period.
