President John Dramani Mahama has donated two vehicles he received as gifts to the state, demonstrating his commitment to upholding integrity and ethical standards in governance.
The donation was made on Monday, May 5, 2025, following the unveiling of a new Code of Conduct for government appointees. Government Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu presented the vehicles on behalf of the President to the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah.
“We must now draw a clear line between appreciation and influence,” President Mahama stated during the unveiling of the Code of Conduct. “Appointees are prohibited from accepting gifts or favors, especially from companies or individuals with interests in governmental decisions.”
The Code of Conduct requires government appointees to declare gifts exceeding GHC 20,000 in value, promoting transparency and accountability in governance. By donating the vehicles, President Mahama sets a strong example for other appointees to follow.
The President’s move aims to curb corruption and promote ethical leadership, restoring public trust in governance. The Code of Conduct is designed to ensure transparency, accountability, and integrity in government decision-making.
