President John Dramani Mahama has announced the upcoming launch of the Graduates in Corporate Support programme, an initiative aimed at reducing youth unemployment and advancing Ghana’s 24-hour economy.
According to President Mahama, the programme will provide 20,000 young graduates with hands-on work experience in 24-hour industries.
“The first 20,000 young graduates will be attached to corporate firms and industries operating 24-hours a day, providing them with invaluable work experience and contributing to national economic growth,” he stated during a national address on his 120-days in office yesterday.
The initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to create jobs and develop skills among Ghana’s youth. The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) will partner with security agencies, including the Fire, Police, and Immigration services, to ensure security for 24-hour firms. Additionally, 23,000 security recruits will be trained and deployed to support this effort.
President Mahama emphasized his administration’s commitment to delivering on promises made in the 120-day social contract.
“We laid out a social contract with the people of Ghana, and we are fulfilling those promises with urgency and accountability,” he said.
The Graduates in Corporate Support programme is expected to provide young Ghanaians with valuable work experience and contribute to national economic growth, aligning with the government’s vision of a vibrant 24-hour economy.
