Former National Signals Bureau (NSB) Director, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, was re-arrested on Monday, May 13, shortly after being granted bail in a separate GH¢49 million cybersecurity case.
According to his lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, the new charges relate to equipment and secure internet services provided to the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) for monitoring water pipelines remotely.
“I understand it involves national security support for the Ghana Water Company to help them monitor their pipelines from a distance,” Akyea explained after a court hearing in Accra.
Akyea expressed concerns that the actions against Adu-Boahene might seem personal and called for fairness, emphasizing the need for his client to have a proper opportunity to defend himself.
An Accra High Court, presided over by Justice John Eugene Nyadu Nyante, had earlier ordered the prosecution to submit all witness statements by May 20, 2025. The judge stressed the importance of protecting the rights of the accused and ensuring a speedy trial.
