A five-member committee appointed by President John Mahama to investigate three petitions against the Chief Justice is set to begin its hearings on Thursday, May 15.
The committee, chaired by Supreme Court Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang, was established in accordance with Article 146(6) of the 1992 Constitution after a prima facie case was determined against the Chief Justice.
According to a statement issued by the presidency, the committee will sit three times a week and will submit its findings and recommendations to the President upon completion of its work.
The committee’s formation was done in consultation with the Council of State.
