A 16-year-old second-year student of Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School (OKESS) has been arrested by the Tafo-Pankrono Police in the Ashanti Region for unlawful possession of a firearm.
The student’s stepfather, Daniel Owusu Baafi, was also arrested in connection with the same offense.
According to a statement issued by the Ashanti Central Region Police Command, the firearm was discovered during a routine search of the school dormitories on May 14 at about 9:30 am.
The student allegedly admitted to bringing the locally manufactured gun to school, and authorities subsequently handed him over to the police.
During interrogation, the student named his stepfather as the owner of the firearm, leading to his arrest.
Both the student and his stepfather have been granted police inquiry bail and are expected to report to the police on Monday, May 19, 2025, for further investigations.
