The brutal killing of Mohammed Seidu Akugri, Bongo District Director of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), has sparked widespread condemnation.
Akugri was shot and his body set ablaze in Nangodi, a community near Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.
Mahama Ayariga, Member of Parliament for Bawku Central and Majority Leader, has described the murder as “gruesome” and “dastardly.”
In a statement, Ayariga expressed his deep condolences to Akugri’s family, referring to him as a “comrade.”
“I urge all to remain calm and let’s focus on the ongoing efforts of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to bring a lasting solution to the Bawku situation,” Ayariga stated.
He called for a thorough investigation and urged law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Ayariga also praised the youth of Bawku for their recent restraint, noting that meaningful progress is being made toward restoring stability in the area.
He cautioned against actions that could derail the peace process, emphasizing the need for continued calm and cooperation.
