The Vice President of Ghana, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has returned to the country after undergoing extensive medical treatment in the United Kingdom.
Her return marks the end of a period of medical leave, during which she received treatment for an undisclosed illness.
President John Dramani Mahama had earlier expressed relief and gratitude for the Vice President’s recovery, announcing her expected return during a visit to Dodowa on May 16. “I’m happy to state that I spoke to her yesterday morning, and she will be back in the country before the end of next week,” he said.
“By God’s grace, she is fully recovered and she’s going to come and go back to her duties,” he added.
With her health now reportedly restored, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang is expected to resume her duties as Vice President.
