
The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has successfully apprehended a 30-year-old man, Aminu Amidu Mohammed, for allegedly trading in harmful drugs and possessing an unlicensed firearm.
The arrest was made at his hideout in Sabon Zongo following a tip-off from a community watchdog.
According to DCOP Duuti Tuaruku, Commander of the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, the suspect was found with various prescription-only drugs, including Gebedol and opioids, popularly known as “Red.”
“The Police would like to bring to the notice of the public a successful arrest and have charged a 30-year-old trader for possession of quantities of dangerous drugs and an unlicensed firearm. Upon information received by the Accra Regional Intelligence Team, the suspect was identified for allegedly possessing and distributing suspected dangerous drugs,” he said.
The suspect has been arraigned in court for possession of dangerous drugs and an unlicensed firearm.
DCOP Tuaruku has called on the public to remain vigilant and continue partnering with the police to combat crime in the region, saying, “The public should remain active partners in the fight against crime.”
