
The Ghana Police Service’s Special Anti-Galamsey Taskforce has apprehended 17 suspects, comprising 7 Chinese nationals and 10 Ghanaians, for involvement in illegal mining activities in Samreboi, Western Region.
The suspects were arrested on Saturday, May 25, 2025, as part of the taskforce’s ongoing operations to combat galamsey in the area.
The suspects have been transported to Accra to assist with further investigations.
The taskforce is intensifying its efforts to identify additional persons of interest and protect the affected forest reserves.
The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to supporting national efforts to combat illegal mining.
