
The Ghana Police Service has arrested a commercial driver, Edward Ansah, after discovering over GH¢1 million in cash concealed in fertilizer bags on a Ford Transit bus.
The incident occurred on June 3, 2025, when the bus was intercepted at a checkpoint in Juapong while en route to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
According to a statement from the Volta Regional Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service, the money was packed into 68 fertilizer bags and consisted of one-cedi notes and coins totaling GH¢1,021,700.
During interrogation, Ansah claimed he was hired by a man in Kumasi to transport the money from Ho in the Volta Region.
He is currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations. The police will provide further updates as the investigation progresses.
