Ken Ofori-Atta, Ghana’s former Finance Minister, is now officially wanted by Interpol. The international police organization has listed him on its website under the charge of “using public office for profit.”
This development follows his failure to appear for questioning by the Office of the Special Prosecutor on June 2. The Special Prosecutor had initiated extradition proceedings to bring Ofori-Atta back to Ghana to face investigation.
Ofori-Atta is facing scrutiny over several high-profile cases, including alleged irregularities in the Petroleum and Minerals Revenue Assurance, Electricity Company contract termination, National Cathedral project, ambulance procurement, and GRA Tax P-Fund management.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor had previously declared Ofori-Atta wanted, and the Interpol Red Notice is the latest step in the investigation. The case has sparked significant public interest, and the outcome is being closely watched.
