The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) and Ghana Police Service have arrested 14 individuals suspected of dealing in illegal drugs in the Birim Central and Asene Manso Akroso districts.
The arrests were made after weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance, leading to a special operation in Akim Oda and Akroso.
During the operation, three licensed chemical shops were also shut down for selling unapproved and restricted medicines without the required permits.
According to Citi News, a large quantity of illegal drugs was seized, including cannabis and a local drug known as “red.” Some of the drugs were discovered in bulk, showing signs of a well-organized supply system.

NACOC says this is part of a larger crackdown on drug crimes in the region. The Commission is urging the public to report any suspicious drug-related activities in their communities.
