The University of Ghana has suspended all social gatherings on campus due to a resurgence of COVID-19 cases.
This decision was made as a precautionary measure to protect the health and safety of the university community, following an announcement of new suspected and confirmed cases on June 23, 2025.
The University’s Health Directorate called for strict adherence to preventive measures, warning of the potential for further spread.
The Directorate, in a statement, cautioned that all staff, students, and visitors are strongly advised to remain vigilant and strictly adhere to the recommended preventive measures to reduce the risk of infection and community spread.
As part of heightened safety measures, the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs has also issued a directive, today, Thursday, June 26, 2025, instructing all student bodies including GRASAG, SRC, JCRs, and various departmental and school associations to suspend all ongoing and upcoming events and week celebrations until further notice.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Rosina I. Kyerematen, who signed the directive, described the suspension as a necessary step to protect the health and well-being of students, staff, and the broader campus community.
Management of the University is therefore urging all students, staff and organisations to fully comply with the directive and support efforts to prevent further infections.
