Dr. Nuhu Zakaria
President John Dramani Mahama has relieved Dr. Ahmed Nuhu Zakaria of his duties as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Ambulance Service.
Although the official reason for this decision remains undisclosed, the move follows concerns raised by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) regarding Dr. Zakaria’s use of the “Professor” title.
The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission had flagged Dr. Nuhu Zakaria for allegedly misusing the “Professor” title, stating that he had not earned it. While Dr. Zakaria holds a medical doctorate (MD), the commission emphasized that using unearned academic titles is misleading and inconsistent with established academic standards in Ghana.
This decision by President Mahama may be seen as part of a broader effort to uphold governance and accountability in public service. Some observers believe it signals a commitment to ensuring that public officials adhere to high standards of integrity and performance.
