
Kato, a town in the Berekum East Municipality of the Bono Region was thrown into a state of disbelief, when a 45-year-old man, Kwasi Yeboah allegedly shot himself and his two children.
Kwame Agyei, aged 14, sustained gunshot wounds, and he is responding to treatment at the Berekum Holy Family Hospital.
However the bodies of Olivia Fakyewaa, nine years old and her father (Yeboah) were retrieved by the police from their room at Kato and deposited at the same hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Reports by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) indicated that the tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday July 9, 2025.
They said the couple had been divorced and the children were living with their mother, who was only known by the name Madam Sarah.
Yeboah (deceased), had earlier gone to pick up the children from their mother and took them to his house after which he committed the act.
A reliable police source confirmed the incident to the GNA and said further investigations were ongoing.
The tragic incident has since spread like wildfire in the Berekum Municipality, as the police investigate to unravel the mystery surrounding the heinous act.
In another development, the Accra Regional Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old woman for allegedly stabbing her ex-boyfriend and burning his belongings in Sowutuom in the Greater Accra Region.
Police in preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect, Augustina Adoma, visited her former boyfriend, Emmanuel Otabil, a 30-year-old driver, unannounced on the morning of Thursday, June 26, 2025.
Adoma, upon seeing Otabil with another woman, allegedly poured a bucket of water on them and took his Samsung mobile phone before leaving, a news brief by Superintendent of Police Ms Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs at the Accra Regional Police Command said.
Later that day, at about 1600 hours, she reportedly returned to Otabilâs residence.
