
The Minister of the Interior, Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka has decorated 19 newly promoted police officers in Accra after being elevated from Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) to Commissioner.
Others were elevated from Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP).
Speaking at a short ceremony at the National Police Headquarters in Accra, Mr Muntaka congratulated the officers on their promotions.
He acknowledged the challenges they faced and the importance of their work.
Mr Muntaka who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase expressed President Mahama’s appreciation to the officers for their dedication and service.
He underscored the importance of the motivation that comes with the promotions for them to deliver their best.
The Minister tasked the IGP to look into promotions in the Service and ensure that delayed promotions and deserving officers were recognised and rewarded.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno, said the promotions would serve as morale booster to the officers and the Service as a whole.
He noted that the presence of the Minister affirmed the President’s appreciation, sacrifices and commitment to the welfare of officers who often worked under challenging conditions.
