The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended its 2024 Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for Agona West, Christopher Arthur, for breaching internal regulations by engaging in unauthorised political activities.
Mr. Arthur’s suspension was contained in a letter dated 14 July 2025, signed by the constituency secretary, Mr. Anthony Kwame Kum, and the chairman, Alhaji Gibrine Tanko.
According to the executives, Mr. Arthur defied a directive issued by the party’s General Secretary, Mr. Justin Kodua Frimpong, which prohibits premature political engagements ahead of official nominations.
The 2024 Agona West NPP PC is alleged to have convened an electoral area meeting on Sunday, 6 July 2025, an action the party describes as a blatant violation of its rules and a challenge to administrative discipline.
“Your action not only disregards the authority of the General Secretary but also undermines internal unity and the strategic work being done to strengthen the party ahead of the next general election.
As a result, Christopher Arthur has been suspended with immediate effect in accordance with Articles 3(5)(A) and 3(7) of the NPP Constitution.
“You are kindly advised to refrain from carrying out any official duties or representing the party in any capacity during the period of this suspension,” portions of the suspension letter read.
