
A dramatic rescue operation was carried out by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in the Ashanti Region on Sunday, July 20, 2025. A day-old baby boy was rescued from a public latrine at Ahansonyewodea, Obuasi East, after being dumped by an unknown person.
According to reports, the officers at the Obuasi Fire Station received a distress call at 10:30 PM and promptly responded to the scene. The fire crew, led by STNO II Appiah Kubi, used an extension ladder to descend into the latrine and successfully rescued the baby, who was found alive.
The baby was subsequently rushed to the AngloGold Ashanti Hospital (A.G.A.) for medical attention. The GNFS has commended the Obuasi Fire Crew for their swift response, bravery, and commitment to saving lives.
