The Tema Regional Police Command has confirmed the killing of three suspected armed robbers in a police operation on July 21, 2025. The incident occurred when police personnel responded to a distress call about a robbery in progress at a warehouse in the Tema Industrial Area.
According to the police, the suspects, numbering about ten, were engaged in a confrontation with the police, leading to an exchange of gunfire.
Three of the suspects were shot and pronounced dead at the scene, while the remaining suspects, some of whom are believed to have sustained gunshot wounds, fled the scene.
Exhibits recovered from them include: a Bruni mod foreign pistol, a double-barrelled locally manufactured pistol with two rounds of ammunition and 1 live BB ammunition.
The bodies have been deposited at the Police Hospital Morgue for identification, preservation and autopsy while investigations are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects.
