Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament
Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has indeed cautioned the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament against abusing their two-thirds majority status.
He emphasized the importance of allowing minority voices to be heard in Parliament, promoting tolerance and inclusivity.
He also tasked both leadership and members of majority to allow their colleagues in the minority side to have their say
The speaker gave this admonishing after the swearing in of the MP for Ablekuma North Constituency, Madam Ewurabena Aubynn on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
I know Ghanaians have given you the Two Thirds majority but “Allow your colleagues in the Minority to have their say,” he urged them.
The NDC’s two-thirds majority in Parliament was secured after Ewurabena Aubynn’s swearing-in, following her victory in the Ablekuma North by-election. The Minority Caucus staged a walkout during the ceremony in protest of the rerun election outcome.
