The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has detained Paul Adom-Otchere, former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), along with two others, in connection with an ongoing investigation into a revenue assurance contract.
According to the OSP, the suspects have been formally charged, but Mr. Adom-Otchere remains in custody after failing to meet bail conditions.
In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the OSP stated:
“Mr. Adom-Otchere has so far been unable to meet his bail conditions. He is required to present two landed properties (of no specific value) registered in his name. However, he has informed the OSP that he does not own landed property in Ghana. As a result, he remains in custody until the bail terms are satisfied.”
The two other individuals involved are Otuche Kwame Baffour Awuah, Group Executive for Commercial Services at GACL, and Albert Adjetey Adjei-Laryea, CEO of Devnest Systems.
The investigation focuses on a revenue assurance contract between GACL and a private firm reportedly owned by the proprietor of Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML). The OSP is examining suspected procurement breaches, including the award of a sole-sourced contract to a company other than the one approved by the GACL Board.
“Mr. Adom-Otchere is under investigation in connection with a revenue assurance contract between the Ghana Airports Company Limited and a private firm… The OSP is examining possible procurement breaches, including a sole-sourced contract awarded to a company other than the one approved by the GACL Board,” the OSP added.
