The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has announced the payment of arrears owed caterers for the Second Term of the 2024/2025 academic year.
The National Coordinator of the government flagship programme, Hajia Fati Forgor, who confirmed the payment in a post on Facebook dated Monday, August 11, 2025, said all caterers are expected to be paid GH¢2.00 before tax for the Second Term covering 68 cooking days, which is also based on the numbers of days caterers were able to feed beneficiary pupils during the term.
According to her, this payment represents the final settlement for all previous caterers who were recently disengaged, except those with outstanding issues currently under review.
The GSFP National Coordinator further commend the government for the upward adjustment of feeding grants which was announced by the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration from GHC 1.50 to GHC 2.00.
”The GSFP Secretariat expresses its sincere appreciation to the Government for the upward adjustment of feeding grants from GHC 1.50 to GHC 2.00 and the timely release of funds to honor its financial commitments” she stated.
Hajia Fati posited that this action reaffirms the Government’s dedication to the welfare of caterers and the sustainability of the Programme.
”We are also grateful to our donor partners for their continuous support and collaboration in sustaining the Programme” she added.
Meanwhile, the Ghana School Feeding Programme is an initiative of the comprehensive Africa Agricultural Development Programme (CAADP) Pillar 3 which seeks to enhance food security and reduce hunger in line with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (MDGs) on hunger, poverty and malnutrition.
Consequently, school children are provided one hot nutritious meal daily which helps alleviate food insecurity among low-income families and encourages regular school attendance.
