Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson
The Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, has announced that government has paid GH¢9.7 billion in coupons under the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP).
The payment, made on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, brings the total amount disbursed under the programme this year to GH¢19.4 billion. According to the Finance Minister, the move reflects government’s strong commitment to honouring its obligations and is expected to boost investor confidence and enhance fiscal credibility.
Dr. Forson further noted that government has set up two special sinking fund accounts—a Cedi Sinking Fund Account and a US Dollar Sinking Fund Account—in line with the 2025 Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review and the Public Financial Management Act. These funds will serve as liquidity buffers to support the timely redemption of bonds maturing in 2026, 2027, and 2028.
The Minister assured both investors and the general public that all debt obligations, including those under the DDEP, will be honoured fully and on time.
