A 20-year-old man, Kwadwo Bright, has been stabbed to death after an alleged fight over a plastic chair at Ashanti New Town in Kumasi.
Eyewitnesses report that the incident happened in the early hours of Thursday, September 4, 2025, when a quarrel between the deceased and his friend, suspected to be the attacker, escalated.
The misunderstanding is said to have started at a snooker game centre, where both men claimed ownership of the chair. Though the issue was initially settled, the suspect allegedly confronted Kwadwo later and stabbed him in the neck.
Speaking to journalists, the victim’s mother, Georgina Yeboah, described the devastating moment she discovered her son had been attacked.
“I heard people screaming about a young man being stabbed and rushed to the scene, only to find my son in a critical state. Although the matter was reportedly settled, the suspect later attacked and stabbed Kwadwo in the neck, resulting in his death this morning,” she said.
Kwadwo was taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. Police are yet to release an official statement, but investigations are ongoing.
