President John Dramani Mahama has marked the first anniversary of his election victory in the December 2024 general elections with a message of gratitude and renewed commitment to building an inclusive Ghana.
In a statement issued by the Presidency Communications on Sunday, president Mahama reflected on the events of December 7, describing the day as a turning point in Ghana’s democratic journey.
“Ghana spoke with one powerful voice,” he said, recalling the hope and determination of voters who queued to cast their ballots.
He thanked Ghanaians for endorsing the #ResettingGhana agenda and commended members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for their role in securing the win.
President Mahama singled out polling agents for their vigilance, describing them as “our own referees” who helped counter alleged attempts by the Electoral Commission and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to undermine the process.
“Your vigilance turned the tide,” he said.
The president also praised the party’s election management, communications, and strategy teams for executing what he called “unshakeable” tactics.
He reiterated his pledge to govern without discrimination or favouritism, promising a Ghana where justice prevails and hard work is rewarded.
“Today, I renew my pledge to every Ghanaian that we are building a Ghana for ALL Our people” President Mahama stated. “The Ghana we want is not a dream deferred but a promise in progress,”
He further stressed his commitment to the #ResettingGhana agenda, assuring that Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang and the government will work hard to create opportunities, restore hope, and and rebuild trust in national institutions.
He urged NDC supporters to remain focused, noting that their reward lies in the opportunities created for future generations.
President Mahama’s message comes as the party intensifies its efforts to deliver on its campaign promises and restore trust in public institutions.
