The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has interdicted five officers from its Customs Division following the discovery of irregularities linked to a transit cargo consignment.
In a statement issued on February 24, 2026, the Authority said the officers were interdicted with immediate effect pending the outcome of an internal investigation. The decision follows an enforcement operation conducted on February 18, 2026, involving goods that had been declared for transit to Niger.
According to the GRA, preliminary findings from the operation revealed discrepancies in documentation and possible breaches of established customs procedures. These concerns prompted management to initiate a detailed review into the circumstances surrounding the cargo movement.
The Authority indicated that the interdictions are part of efforts to ensure transparency and accountability within its ranks. It added that the investigation will determine the extent of individual involvement and whether further administrative or disciplinary measures will be necessary.
While the probe is ongoing, the GRA assured stakeholders and the general public of its commitment to protecting national revenue and upholding strict compliance with customs regulations. It emphasized that integrity and professionalism remain central to its enforcement operations.
The Authority further noted that the scope of the investigation may be expanded if additional findings emerge.
