The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has firmly rejected claims that it sponsored the national football team, the Black Stars, with a GH¢12 million donation.
In a statement , the board described the allegations as false and misleading, stressing that it has not provided any financial support to the senior national team.
COCOBOD further dismissed suggestions that funds intended for cocoa farmers had been redirected to support the Black Stars. The board emphasized that no such diversion has occurred and reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing the welfare of cocoa farmers across the country.
According to the statement, COCOBOD remains focused on its core mandate, including ensuring timely payment for cocoa purchases, supplying farm inputs, and sustaining investments in the cocoa sector. It assured stakeholders that resources allocated for farmer-related activities remain protected and dedicated to their intended purposes.
The board also urged the public to disregard the claims and rely on its official communication channels for accurate information.
The clarification follows public speculation over the alleged GH¢12 million sponsorship, which had sparked concerns about the use of funds within the cocoa sector.
