A violent altercation erupted at the Bantama Pentecost Church on Tuesday during the New Patriotic Party’s “Thank You” tour event in the Ashanti Region, leaving a Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology student with stab wounds.
The incident occurred when a group of men, believed to be NPP supporters, clashed with members of the Jama Group, a local entertainment troupe hired to perform at the event.
Eyewitnesses claim the altercation began when a wealthy individual associated with Kennedy Agyapong threw money to the Jama Group, which was subsequently seized by the suspected NPP supporters.
In the ensuing melee, gunshots were fired, and one of the Jama Group members, a KNUST student affiliated with Unity Hall, was stabbed multiple times.
The victim was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital’s emergency unit, where he is currently receiving treatment.
Kennedy Agyapong’s team has lodged an official complaint with the Kumasi Central Police Command, but authorities have yet to make any arrests.
