In a dramatic turn of events, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has declared former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta a wanted person.
This decision comes after Mr. Ofori-Atta failed to appear in person before the OSP as directed, sparking a stern reaction from Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng.
“We want him here physically. We have indulged him for long, and it ends here,” Mr. Agyebeng emphasized at a press conference on Monday, June 3, 2025.
The OSP’s investigation into alleged financial misconduct, including money laundering and causing financial loss to the state, will continue with Mr. Ofori-Atta’s declaration as a wanted person.
This move may also lead to international enforcement actions, including a possible INTERPOL Red Notice.
The development follows Mr. Ofori-Atta’s request for a virtual session, citing medical reasons, which the OSP has deemed insufficient.
His legal team had submitted documentation to the OSP and the Human Rights Court, explaining that he was undergoing treatment abroad and unable to travel.
