
The Western Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with a payroll robbery amounting to GH¢149,500, which occurred on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, near Nyanikrom, close to Shama Junction.
According to a police statement, the suspects, Francis Mensah (34), Ebenezer Cofie (32), and Samuel Bentum (35); allegedly used insider information to carry out the heist. The robbery took place near Unique School Junction in Nyanikrom, shortly after officials of the targeted company had withdrawn cash from a bank in Takoradi to pay salaries.
The gang, operating in an unregistered saloon car and on a motorbike, is said to have ambushed the company’s vehicle, smashed its windows, and fled with the cash.
The Police explained that the swift arrest of the suspects was made possible through proactive surveillance, based on credible intelligence gathered before the incident.
A company driver, identified as Maxwell Kofi Yeboah, has also been named as a key accomplice. He is currently on the run, and a manhunt is underway for his capture.
Authorities have confirmed that the entire stolen amount of GH¢149,500 has been successfully recovered. The Police further assured the public that investigations are ongoing to dismantle the full criminal network behind the robbery.
The three suspects are currently in custody, and the Police reiterated their commitment to ensuring all those involved face justice.
