President John Dramani Mahama has donated 40 metric tons of Ghana-made cocoa-based products to the people of Palestine as a humanitarian gesture, describing it as both a symbol of solidarity and a source of practical support for families caught in the ongoing conflict.
The donation, presented at the Jubilee House in Accra, includes chocolate and other cocoa products under the renowned Golden Tree brand.
President Mahama said the gesture reflects Ghana’s compassion and commitment to global peace and human dignity.

He explained that while cocoa is one of Ghana’s most valuable natural resources, it also represents resilience, generosity, and economic livelihood for millions of Ghanaian farmers. For him, the donation carries deep meaning, both in the nutrients it provides and the hope it symbolizes.
President Mahama noted that cocoa is more than a sweet treat—it contains vital antioxidants, iron, magnesium, and other minerals, especially important for women and children facing health and nutritional challenges in crisis areas. He expressed hope that the products would bring some comfort and nourishment to Palestinian families facing severe hardship.
The President also used the opportunity to commend the Palestinian community in Ghana for their contributions to development. He highlighted the construction of a modern classroom block in the underserved Dramanikope community in the Northern Region as a mark of their commitment to humanity, even while facing challenges in their homeland.
Mr Mahama reaffirmed Ghana’s strong support for a peaceful, negotiated two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and urged both parties to end the cycle of violence and embrace diplomacy and dialogue.
He also appealed to the Israeli authorities to open humanitarian corridors into Gaza to allow urgent aid to reach those in need.
The donation was made possible through the efforts of the Ghana Cocoa Board, the Cocoa Processing Company, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other stakeholders.
President Mahama expressed deep gratitude to all who worked to make the gesture possible, assuring Palestinians that Ghana stands with them in their quest for peace and justice.
