Mrs. Abena Rita Boamah
The wife of the late Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Mrs. Abena Rita Boamah, has described her husband as “nothing short of a wonderful father” in a moving tribute at his final state funeral held at the Black Star Square in Accra on Friday 15, 2025.
Mrs. Boamah recalled their love story, which began unexpectedly when they met on a fateful day despite her not being a medical student. She spoke of their long walks, shared adventures, and deep bond that grew into marriage and family life.
She revealed that Dr. Boamah, even with his busy schedule as a medical doctor and later as a politician, made time to bathe and dress their children every morning, monitor their studies, and ensure they had moments of play and adventure.
“You were the definition of a genuine person and a true family man,” she said, adding that his commitment and love made her certain from the beginning that he would be the perfect father.
Mrs. Boamah recalled that her husband often asked what she would do if he was no longer around. “I never answered until today,” she said softly. “I will, with God’s help, take care of Mommy and the three kids. Knowing who you are, I believe you’ll be looking down on us, guiding us from the heavens.”
In her final words, she thanked him for loving her, their children, her family, and all who knew him, saying, “I will be with you until we meet again. Love always, from your one and only, Abena Rita.”

The Minister of Defense, Dr. Omane Boamah died alongside Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed; former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye; NDC Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong; Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed; and crew members Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
