Liverpool and Egypt star Mohamed Salah has made football history after being named the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Men’s Player of the Year 2025, becoming the first player to win the coveted award three times.
The 33-year-old forward capped off a remarkable 2024/25 season in which he led Liverpool to the Premier League title, finishing as the league’s top scorer with 29 goals and providing a further 18 assists. His consistency and leadership were pivotal as the Reds reclaimed domestic supremacy under Jürgen Klopp’s successor.
Salah, who previously won the award in 2018 and 2022, now stands alone ahead of other legends such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry, and Kevin De Bruyne, who have each won the accolade twice.
Reflecting on his achievement, Salah recalled his humble beginnings in Egypt.
“Of course I wanted to be a football player and I wanted to be famous and provide for my family, but you don’t think about the big stuff when you are still in Egypt. When you grow, you start to see things differently and you start to have ambition and you start to see the bigger picture.”
