Former Vice President and 2024 NPP Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to prioritise unity and discipline as the party prepares for the 2028 general elections.
Speaking to delegates and party faithful after submitting his nomination forms for the NPP flagbearership race, Dr. Bawumia cautioned against divisive rhetoric within the party.
“We must not just talk about unity; we must live it if we are to win the 2028 elections,” he said, urging delegates to refrain from tribal and religious attacks that could weaken the party’s cohesion.
He further stressed that what both the NPP and Ghana need at this time are a strong and united political party capable of holding government accountable while advancing the interests of the people.
Dr. Bawumia’s remarks come at a crucial moment in the NPP’s internal processes, as aspirants seek to position themselves for the party’s leadership ahead of the next election cycle.
