Ghana has lost one of its greatest icons with the passing of Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo, widely known as “Kantanka, the African Star.”
The Safo Family and the Kristo Asafo Church confirmed that the revered man of God, technologist, philanthropist, agriculturist, and industrialist passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
Apostle Safo was more than a religious leader. He was a pioneer of indigenous technology, celebrated for his groundbreaking innovations in automobile manufacturing, engineering, and agriculture through the Kantanka Group.
His creativity and determination earned him recognition as a national treasure and a symbol of African ingenuity.
Quoting Romans 14:8 — “For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord” — the Kristo Asafo Church described him as a true genius and father to the fatherless, whose legacy will continue to inspire generations.
Beyond his inventions, Apostle Safo was a devoted philanthropist, empowering the vulnerable and uplifting countless lives through education, skills training, and community support. His life reflected resilience, courage, and an unshakable commitment to his faith and his people.
In a statement, former Dome Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, appealed to the public to respect their privacy during this difficult time, assuring that funeral and burial arrangements will be announced in due course.
Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo’s passing marks the end of an era, but his vision, works, and impact will remain a shining light for Ghana and Africa.
