Former Member of Parliament for the Kumbungu constituency in the Northern Region, Ras Mubarak, has called out the National Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah for his widely publicised nationwide thank-you tour.
General Mosquito, as popularly known on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, embarked on a three-day tour of the Eastern Region. The tour aims for the NDC’s National Chairman to engage with various stakeholders and party members across the constituencies.
This, however, has sparked public discourse within the political circles, with some suggesting that the exercise is less about gratitude and more about positioning Mr. Nketia for the party’s upcoming presidential race.
Reacting to this development on Facebook, the former legislator said, “Never throughout NDC’s history has a National Chairman after an NDC victory decided on going on a ‘Thank You Tour’ aside from what the flag bearer has done or is doing.”
According to Ras Mubarak, ‘Thank you’ tours are led by candidates who lead a party into an election in partnership with party executives.
Ras Mubarak stated this is a dangerous precedent and an unnecessary distraction to the John Mahama-led government.
He added nobody must be allowed to hide under a “Thank You Tour” to advance their premature presidential ambitions.
“It’s intolerable, and the chairman must be bluntly told so”, he posited.
