In an interview with Newswiregh, Akua Donkor suggested that the 10-year jail term proposed by the anti-LGBTQI bill is not enough punishment for people who practice and advocate homosexuality.
The Founder and Leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) says she will sentence LGBTQ+ people as well as groups and individuals who advocate for their rights to life imprisonment when she becomes president in 2024.
She noted that the issue of LGBTQI cannot be considered as a mental health disorder, as explained by some health experts.
In her view, homosexuality is a great sin against the statutes of God and disrespect of traditional and cultural values of all tribes across the country.
“I believe that passing flexible laws on LBTQI+ could result in the exact sins that evoked God’s anger against Sodom and Gomorrah, which were destroyed by fire in the book of Genesis.”
“I suspect those groups who are speaking against the bill. Even animals don’t practice homosexuality, so LGBTQI people do not deserve to be protected by human rights laws. “
She also suggested that groups and individuals who insist on the rights of homosexuals should take them to countries where LGBTQI is legalized for their protection.
The flagbearer for the Ghana Freedom Party in the 2020 elections applauded the MP for Ningo-Prampram, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, for his solid stance in advocating the anti-LGBTQI bill pending before parliament.
She has, however, called on the president, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to declare his position on the issue of LGBTQI.
