Akufo-Addo commissions GH¢6.7 million rice processing factory

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commissioned a rice processing factory worth GH¢6.7 million Sefwi Akontombra in the Western North Region of Ghana.

The ceremony took place on Sunday, September 5 as part of the president’s 2-day tour of the Western-North Region.

According to a Facebook post by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, the factory was constructed under the 1-District-1-Factory Common User Facility (CUF), which is an agro-industrial factory established by the Rural Enterprises Programme (REP) under the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

“The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Sunday, 5th September 2021, commissioned the GH¢6.7 million Sefwi Akontombra rice processing factory, as part of his 2-day tour of the Western-North Region. The Sefwi Akontombra Rice Factory was constructed under the 1-District-1-Factory Common User Facility (CUF), which is an agro-industrial factory established by the Rural Enterprises Programme (REP) under the Ministry of Trade and Industry,” the post said.

The rice factory is said to be a state-of-the-art rice facility with the capacity to produce between 1.5 and 2.8 tonnes of processed rice per hour and will employ some 718 people.
