There’s uncontrollable grief in Manso-Tonkrom in the Amansie West district of the Ashanti Region of Ghana as residents mourn the death of a 14-year-old boy who has been killed by a mine collapse.
The mine pit had been abandoned for sometime now.
The deceased, Amadu Hamba, was mining in the restricted area when the dugout sand came crashing down, a report by the police has revealed.
Rescuers who rushed to the scene, found the teenager buried underground.
The boy was rushed to the manso-Nkwanta Health center after a rather thorough effort by rescuers to get him out of the entrapped gold pit but despite his rescue he was pronounced dead on arrival at the health facility.
