In the saying of one wise man, in the absence of nothing, bad is good. That can be said of the situation at Korle Bu teaching hospital Wednesday dawn as new born babies were pushed around and thrown about for their own safety after fire gutted the facility.
The fire is said to have started around 12 midnight at some parts of the hospital, and subsequently spread to the babies’ ward.
As of the time a hospital worker (Name withheld) put out the information as well as a video to report the incident, the fire service was still not present at the scene of the fire.
“There’s a fire outbreak over here. We need the fire serrice now…There’s a fire outage here so we have to evacuate the babies now, I beg you if anybody can come to our aid. We’ve called the fire service but they’re still not here so if somebody can come to our aid now,” the worker said in a video posted to Facebook hours ago.
It’s unclear what may have caused the Fire service to delay this long or whether or not they have finally arrived at the scene of the incident but NewsWire GH will follow keenly and provide updates to readers.
