Some 114 out of 240 prisoners have been recaptured after their weekend escape from a prison in Nigeria.

The authorities have urged the rest to turn themselves in or risk being prosecuted after arrest.

The prisoners escaped after gunmen attacked a correctional facility in Kogi state.

The authorities have assured the public of their safety as the hunt for the fugitives continues.

Nigeria has had rising insecurity, with this being the second attack on a prison this year.
