Over 500 students of the Nhyinahin Catholic Senior High School in the Ashanti region have been displaced after some of their colleagues who are yet to be identified allegedly set 5 dormitories on fire.

According to the police the incident happened on Thursday night, October 7, while the students were at church service.

According to a police source, the students did that to register their displeasure over the school examination council’s decision not to allow them cheat in the West Africa Examination Council Certificate Exams, WASSCE.

A timely intervention by the Ghana National Fire Service contained the fire and prevented it from spreading to other properties of the mission school.

Police in Nhyinahin have begun investigations into the incident to bring the perpetrators to book.
