The Ghana Health Service has confirmed the outbreak of Avian Influenza in Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipality among two poultry farms in the in the Municipality.
The National Veterinary Laboratory confirmed the cases following suspicion by the veterinary officers in the Municipality. The birds in the said farms have all been destroyed with preliminary disinfection started.
According to the press release by the Ghana Health service, the Avian Influenza is highly infectious and can be fatal in humans, there the attention of all health personnel are being to be wary of the signs and symptoms.
Also the general public is also cautioned to be vigilant and and look out for persons with unexplained acute lower respiratory illness with fever
(>38 ‘C) and cough, shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing which could be some signs and symptoms of the of the Avian Influenza.
